How We Started...

I've had dogs all of my life. My dogs were always my companions. However, in 2011 my husband and I adopted a 5 year old Saint Bernard/Great Pyrenees mix named Tyson. To our surprise, he had some behavioral issues that required our enrollment in a 6 month training program. Though the program required a lot of work on our part, it completely transformed our dog in a way I didn't know was possible. He became happier and much more well balanced. Our neighbors would often comment "I cannot believe that is the same dog". That type of commitment to my dog was new to me, but it didn't seem like work. I thoroughly enjoyed every second I spent working with him. I couldn't remember another time in my life where I had been so focused on the here and now. That's when I learned dogs could be so much more than companions. Shortly after the training program completed, I knew I wanted to find a way to spend my days with animals. In 2014, with encouragement from my husband, I left my full time job and formed Outta the Doghouse, LLC. Tyson passed away in 2016, but his legacy lives on through this company. I will forever be grateful to him for leading me to my true passion in life.
